SDFA holds classes for Mumbai students of ‘Akanksha’, ‘Teach For India (TFI)’ an Indian non-profit organization, which is a part of the Teach For All global movement, ‘The Vatsalya Foundation’ working with Street children from Mumbai, ‘Muktangan’ an initiative of Paragon Charitable Trust, a pioneering educational programme with an innovative model, working in close partnership with the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai. These talented young performers train at our Worli Centre free of cost.
We also train the guardians of our society, the students of the Mumbai Police Constabulary, at the Naigaon Police Headquarters and at Worli.
At the Academy’s biggest evenings every year, the ‘Star Nite’, a legacy has already begun taking shape in the form of trophy in memory of the late Shaheed Tukaram Ombale. The martyr’s daughter has been a guest at all its past editions and presents the coveted award to the most deserving candidates from the Mumbai Police Constabulary contingent.
Spreading happiness has always been the dikata of dance. It is also why we teach special children from the CPAA, or the Cancer Patients Aid Association as also those from the popular NGO Salaam Bombay.
Among SDFA’s circle of beneficiaries has also been Mumbai’s cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar and singing maestro Asha Bhosle, both of whom have been associated with the Academy in the past.
